The Beast, real name Prince Adam, is one of the two main protagonists of the Disney's Beauty and the Beast and it's midquels. He is based on the fairy tale character of the same name. He is voiced by Robby Benson.
Personality
Prince Adam was spoiled as a child because he was a prince and so he got everything he wanted. He appeared to believe only in beauty on the outside and was repulsed by those who were deformed. He was also stubborn and lazy, annoyed that one of his servants, Lumiere, gave him a book. He was very frightened by the Enchantress, who had great powers. When he was turned into the Beast, he was constantly in a bad mood and was very short-tempered, often yelling and bellowing at others.

When Adam was a young eleven year old young boy he lived in France and was prince of a castle, and he got everything he wanted. However, this made him spoiled and selfish. One night on Christmas Eve, what appeared to be an old beggar woman came at his door, offering him a rose if he let her come in. Finding her appearance repulsive, he refused. She told him that true beauty was on the inside, but he still refused to let her in. The beggar then revealed she was in fact a powerful Enchantress who had come in the form of a beggar to test his kindness. Realizing her beauty and power, he immediately broke down and apologized for what he did. But the Enchantress had seen there was no love in his heart while in beggar form and she put a curse on him, transforming him into a monster.
